Our conversation will cover any or all of the following topics, according to the needs of each group:

• What is coercive control or family violence?

• Displacement of blame

• Understanding and navigating the legal system

• Finding your voice

• Building a working relationship with the Police - evidence

• Facing your fears

• “But I still love him” - letting go

• Managing visitation issues

• Letting go of the guilt

• Family and friends

• Helping your kids

• “It stops with me” - intergenerational violence/abuse

• Faith-based or culturally-based marriages

• Financial independence

• How do you know where you are ready for love again?

The goals of the group are:

  • To provide a safe, supportive and confidential environment where each person’s story can be told without fear of judgement or condemnation, and
  • To provide women with the knowledge and tools they need so that this can never happen again.

Troubleshooting tips for Online Meetings:

  • If you are having trouble connecting you could try clearing your browser cache.
  • There are instructions for this for ChromeFirefoxEdge and Safari.
  • You could also try restarting the Zoom app on your computer or mobile device.
  • Zoom do offer some technical support with a knowledge base and customer support.

Unfortunately the MHFA can do very little to assist with connection issues as Zoom is a 3rd party application and out of our control.

Dianne Simboro, Family Violence Support Group Facilitator

Dianne Simboro is a Recovery Coach, Behavioural Profiler and Hypnotherapist. After more than two decades of lived experience of family violence and then ten years of professional experience, she established Family Violence Mindset Solutions to teach women how to release the layers of trauma and conditioning in the survivor’s mindset.

Before her abusive marriage Dianne travelled around Australia and through many countries overseas on a working holiday which lasted over ten years. There were a number of traumatic and life-threatening experiences, after which she says she had to pioneer her own path of recovery because there was no-one who could provide her with the necessary support at that time. “Through my own experience I found out what worked for me and now I share that with others.”
